Does it still count if you keep the things they leave behind?
I have a shirt, which I will keep until it no longer is needed. It is a hug, a punching bag, a reassurance of a promise and self-induced trigger.
I have a comic book, given on the way out the door because of how much it would speak to me. Do I read it for the literary content or because he told me to, because I can somehow reach him through it? Do I give it back when I am done, before the scars on my wrist are usurped by fresh pink skin, or do I wait until like the shirt, it is only an object?
